Dyslexia Mom Life™ | Dyslexia Education, Parenting Strategies
Do you wish you had a guide or coach who has been where you are and has mapped out how to parent a child with dyslexia (without the overwhelm)?
Do you worry about your child’s self-esteem and mental health while carrying the shame of being unable to read? Are you staying up at night, staring at the ceiling with worry about your child’s future and the impact on your family?
I’m so glad you’re here! This podcast is your go-to guide for practical strategies on your dyslexia parenting journey. Together, we’ll build a deep understanding of dyslexia and give you the parenting tools you need to confidently navigate the world of dyslexia without sacrificing your relationship with your child. This journey may have its challenges, but you are not alone. You’ve got this—and we’re in it together!
For the past 8 years, I have been on my dyslexia mom journey. I have made mistakes, laughed, and cried along my parenting journey with my dyslexic daughter. I spent so much time on internet searches and social media, trying to figure it all out — how to get our daughter tested for dyslexia, where to find the right remediation, what accommodations work for her, when and how to tell her she was dyslexic, and how to protect her self-esteem through it all. Honestly, it took a huge toll on our family — and my sanity!
I finally realized that if I was going to keep my sanity and help my daughter thrive in this new dyslexia lifestyle, I had to trust my intuition about what was best for her and our family. I had done all the research, read all the books, and found a way to connect with my daughter, building a strong mother-daughter relationship that would outlive her school years. Of course, I have my fair share of bumps, bruises, and wrong turns along our journey, but one thing is constant - my love for my daughter, and that I can do this (figure out dyslexia and be the best mom to my daughter)! P.S. So can you!
I created a framework that was built on simple, proven strategies — small steps I could check off each day, giving me a real sense of progress (instead of endlessly scrolling through Instagram looking for answers).
It became a lifestyle that made parenting feel less like a constant chore and more like a meaningful relationship — filled with intention, fun, and laughter again. And now, I’m so ready to share it all with you!
If you’re ready for simple, proven strategies to confidently show up for your child with dyslexia, this podcast is for you!
Take a deep breath — you’re in the right place. It’s time to turn the page on overwhelm and step into confidence! Let’s begin.

147 | How to Use Your Myers-Briggs Type to Better Parent Your Dyslexic Child with Kim Anderson
Early in my dyslexia parenting journey, I took every piece of business advice as gold. I was so eager to learn everything I could get my hands on about dyslexia that I rarely stopped to ask, does this make sense for my parenting journey and the best way to help my daughter?
But over the years, I learned a valuable lesson: not all advice is good advice. Some of the most common expert tips can steer you in the wrong direction.
The truth is, every child with dyslexia is different, and what works for one child might not work for another. That’s why your intuition is so important!
Some of my biggest wins have come from doing the exact opposite of what the so-called “rules” say to do.
Today, I’m sharing five pieces of bad dyslexia advice I’m so glad I ignored.
